El Salvador Adventure | Trip Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival and transfer to San Salvador – 35 Mins. – 49Kms/29.4 M
Welcome at the airport by one of our representatives, transfer to San Salvador City, located  49 kms away (35 mins) from the airport. Spend tonight at your select hotel.  .
Optional Tour: San Salvador by night ‐ visits to the main bars and restaurants areas of San Salvador (5hrs)

Day 2 –Hiking Ilamatepec Volcano
Exciting adventure to the top of the Ilamatepec Volcano (70 kms approx), a real scenic gem.  It’s the highest and largest of the coastal mountain range,, reaching 2365 meters above sea level. The route is narrow and difficult to traverse, however there are a number of resting points. As you reach upper altitudes, the winds are much stronger and you will be enveloped in clouds. Soon, you will arrive at the top. The crater has an emerald‐green lagoon in its interior. There is also a small waterfall of crystalline water. From this point you will have an amazing view of the Coatepeque Lake, Izalco Volcano, the Cerro Verde Volcano and the Pacific Ocean. The view is just impressive! 
Total hiking time approximately 4 hours.   Continue to the town of Ahuachapan, in the “Ruta de las Flores” (Flower Route) where you spend the night in your select hotel.   (B, Box Lunch))

Day 3 – Archaeological Canopy Tour– Tazumal and Joya de Ceren
Canopy Tour during the morning. Today you will experience an adventurous descent along the canopy tour; you’ll travel through the mountainside treetops and be privy to a beautiful array of flora and fauna like toucans, eagles, squirrels and many more! The majestic pines, grand oaks and other centuries old trees will amaze you!  Later, visit the Ruins of Tazumal (the largest pyramid in El Salvador) a sophisticated and important Mayan settlement, also, visit the city of Santa Ana, one of the most important cities in El Salvador, where you will be able to take a panoramic tour, visiting its beautiful gothic cathedral, theatre and city hall. Then, discover the archaeological sites of Joya de Cerén, declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 1993, also called the Pompeii of America, for its valuable contribution to the knowledge of present civilization. Continue to the lovely lakeside town of Suchitoto, where you check-in to your select hotel for an overnight stay.  (B)

Day 4 –Suchitoto city tour + Sea kayaking on Lake Suchitoto
After breakfast, tour the beautiful city of “Suchitoto”, meaning "Place of the Flower Bird”, in Nahuatl. The city of Suchitoto offers the essence of the old colonial architecture. Visit its beautiful cobbled streets, art galleries, the Ruins’ Theater, the House of Crays and the Santa Lucia Church, built in 1853, one of the main attractions of the city for its architecture and its historical significance. Your next adventure is by sea  kayak, as you Lake Suchitlán, a 135 square kms artificial lake with the largest area of water in the country. 

After a full day of actviites, you will be transferred to San Salvador with time to enjoy one of the area’s nice restaurants and nightlife. (B)

 

Day 5-to the beach!
A little free time this morning to explore the city on your own. (or we can add an optional city tour on request).

Late in the morning we’ll pick you up for a stop at the local artisan’s market before the drive (1  hour approximately/unguided) to your select beach hotel, arriving in  time for a late lunch. Check-in for a 2-night stay. (additional nights can be added on request)

Casa de Mar/ El Sunzal--Secluded among the rocks overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Casa de Mar provides the ultimate getaway for those seeking a first class escape for a surfing trip, honeymoon, anniversary or family vacation. Day 6: Enjoy some relaxing time at the Salvadoran coast, with plenty of opportunities for optional activities, or simply enjoying your hotel’s amenities and lounging on the beach.  (B)

Day 7: Transfer to the Airport
Three hours before flight, you’ll be picked up by our local driver and transferred to the airport to check-in for your international flight. (B)
