El Salvador Explorer | Trip Itinerary

Day 1:  After clearing immigration and customs, you’ll meet our local representative and transfer to San Salvador city where you check-in your select hotel for a 2-night stay. If your flight arrives in the morning, we offer an option afternoon tour on the life of Archbishop Oscar Romero.

Day 2: Tour of San Salvador, San Salvador Volcano
Visit the main streets and monuments of San Salvador, the Historic City Center: The Metropolitan Cathedral, The National Palace, the National Theatre and the Rosario Church (3hrs) Visit the Anthropology Museum (1hr). Free Lunch. Then, transfer to San Salvador Volcano better known as "El Boquerón" (25 mins) and enjoy a panoramic view to the crater with its particular “volcancito” or “little volcano” inside (25mins). After visiting the ecotrails at the crater, you will be able to see the beautiful city of San Salvador and delight yourself with a warm and tasting cup of coffee or a delicious typical early dinner at a local restaurant in the area, where you will also be able to taste the famous salvadorean dishes: "Las Pupusas" (not included).  (B)

Day 3:   Mayan Route. Discover this civilization while visiting the archaeological sites of Joya de Cerén, declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 1993, also called the Pompeii of America, for its valuable contribution to the knowledge of present civilization, then visit the Ruins of San Andrés, a very important political and religious centre with diverse structures for the use of the governors during that period. Later visit the city of Santa Ana, one of the most important cities in El Salvador, where you will be able to take a panoramic tour, visiting its beautiful gothic cathedral, theatre and national palace. Last but not least, visit the Ruins of Tazumal (the largest pyramid in El Salvador) a sophisticated and important Mayan settlement. Overnight in The Flower´s Route for 2 nights. (B)

Day 4:  Ruta de las Flores tour.  The Flowers Route is one of the most popular tourist destinations and named for its abundance of flowers on the picturesque road. Colorful villages, coffee, natural beauty, crafts, cuisine, festivals, mild weather. Observe the elaboration of handicrafts of the zone and make shopping in the local stores. In Nahuizalco you can take a guided walk through the local community that will know the city and the lifestyle of the locals. Juayúa has a pleasant and temperate climate because of its location of 1,025 meters above sea level. In winter it is common to note that descend from the hill Apaneca mist toward the outskirts of town, while in summer the temperatures are warm and pleasant.  Overnight in The Flower´s Route.  (B)

Day 5:  Lake & Volcano Complex.  Today's tour  is to one of the most popular scenic destinations in El Salvador, showing the most characteristic natural attributes of the country. This incredible tour is a sightseeing of  "Izalco Volcano"  better known as the Lighthouse of the Pacific, the natural reserve of Cerro Verde, an inactive volcano located at an altitude of 2.035 meters above sea level and the Volcano Ilamatepec (or Santa Ana Volcano), the highest volcano and most voluminous of the coastal range. Later, visit the Volcanic Lake "Coatepeque" amongst the ten most beautiful lakes in the world. Optional: enjoy a refreshing boat ride. Continue to Suchitoto and check-in for two night stay. (B)

Day 6:  The Suchitoto day tour is a beautiful visit to the enchanting city of Suchitoto, also known as the “Place of Flower Bird” for its name in Nahuatl. Suchitoto offers an essence of ancient city with colonial architecture that seems like the time has stopped. Visit its beautiful cobbled streets, art galleries, crafts and home of one of the main attractions of the city for its structure and historical importance: the Santa Lucia Church, built in 1853. Later you can also visit Suchitlán Lake, the largest artificial lake surface water in the country. Its natural scenic beauty makes it an ideal destination to enjoy a artisan boat ride with one of the local boaters (included). During the boat ride you will be able to visit the different islands that surround the lake, home of migratory birds and native animals. Overnight in Suchitoto  (B)

Day 7:  Transfer to the beach.  After breakfast and check out, non-guided transfer to beach hotel at Costa del Sol or the Sunzal Beach. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the beautiful Salvadorean beaches, take a massage at the edge of the sea or taste a delicious salvadorean cocktail while enjoying the wind of the Pacific Coast. Check-in for 2 nights. (B)

Day 8:   Free day to enjoy the beach and activities from your hotel. (B)

Day 9:  Unguided transfer from your beach hotel to San Salvador Airport approximately 4 hours before your international departure. (B)
